Itinerary Overview:

Day 1: Diani Beach – Mombasa Flight – Nairobi – Masai Mara (Overland Group Drive) Meal Plan: Lunch, Dinner.

We’ll pick you up from your Diani Beach resort for a prompt 05:00 AM transfer to Mombasa’s Moi International Airport (MBA). Relax and enjoy the scenic landscape unfolding below on this fast Kenya Airways flight to Nairobi (approximately 1 hour). You’ll be met at Wilson Airport (or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, depending on the flight used for groups) by your safari driver/guide and join the group for an exciting overland journey to the Masai Mara. The drive will take you through the dramatic Rift Valley escarpment and into the legendary Masai plains.

Few descriptions can match the boundless wonder of the Masai Mara National Reserve. The park is a diverse ecosystem of rolling savannah and unlimited wildlife. It is home to the Great Migration – over a million wildebeest, zebra, topi, and eland cross into the Mara from the Serengeti typically from July through October, a truly spectacular natural event. Expect to view great numbers and variety of wildlife on your initial game drive as you head to your accommodation. You’ll settle into your choice of Masai Mara Sopa Lodge or Olmoran Tented Camp for the night.

Day 2: Full Day – Masai Mara: Intensive Wildlife Viewing & Optional Activities Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Today, you’ll have the entire day dedicated to game drives and other optional activities throughout the reserve. Here, you’ll be actively watching for the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo), plus abundant giraffe, cheetah, gazelle, hyena, jackal, and of course, the endless parade of the Great Migration during season.

Down at the Mara River, the iconic site of the migration crossing, you’ll see resident hippos and crocodiles waiting for their prey. You’ll be able to enjoy as many game drives through the park as you desire – the great varieties of landscape and wildlife here are endlessly fascinating. And you are guaranteed a window seat in your safari vehicle for optimal viewing and photography!

If you wish, you can enhance your experience with optional activities (at extra cost, please arrange with your guide):

• Maasai Village Visit: Immerse yourself in the local culture by visiting a traditional Maasai village to learn about their unique customs and ancient herding lifestyle.
• Hot Air Balloon Excursion: For the ultimate Mara adventure, take an optional, early morning hot air balloon flight over the reserve. You’ll rise with the sun, literally, as below, the park comes alive with the light and wildlife – a never-to-be-forgotten adventure.

After a thrilling day, you’ll return to your lodge or tented camp for a relaxing evening and dinner.

Day 3: Masai Mara – Nairobi Flight – Diani Beach (Departure) Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch.

We’ll enjoy more game drives this morning, packing in final wildlife sightings before departing the park. On our route back to Nairobi, we’ll also have a relaxing lunch stop to break the journey.

Then, from Nairobi (typically Wilson Airport), it’s a quick afternoon flight back to Mombasa – one final opportunity to view the fields and hills of Kenya from the air, a beautiful farewell to the landscapes you’ve explored. Upon arrival at Mombasa Airport, we will transfer you back to your Diani Beach area resort, concluding your unforgettable safari.

All-Inclusive & Accommodation Choices: Your 3-Day Masai Mara fly/drive safari includes all ground transportation, roundtrip flights from Mombasa to Nairobi, accommodation at your choice of the Masai Mara Sopa Lodge (a classic, well-established lodge with good views) or Olmoran Tented Camp (an intimate tented camp experience on the Ololaimutia River), park entrance fees, game drives, all meals as specified, and convenient pickup/drop-off at your Diani Beach and South Coast locations.
