Day 1: Diani – Tsavo East – Taita Hills
Distance: Approx. 3-hour drive

After an early morning departure, we head inland via the scenic Mombasa–Nairobi Highway. In just a few hours, you’ll arrive at Tsavo East National Park, Kenya’s largest and most rugged wildlife reserve. Here, the red-soil plains stretch endlessly, home to an astonishing variety of species.
Wildlife Viewing at Mudanda Rock & Aruba Dam
Our first game drives will focus on the Mudanda Rock and Aruba Dam areas—prime spots to witness large herds of elephants, lions, buffalo, antelope, and over 500 species of birds. These watering holes attract wildlife from miles around, making them spectacular locations for sightings.
Afternoon Transfer to Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary
In the afternoon, we continue to the lush Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, a private reserve known for its high concentration of wildlife in a relatively compact area. The contrast between Tsavo’s dusty plains and Taita’s green hills is striking—and so are the game drives.
You’ll be guided to the best spots, often led by insights from rangers who know where the animals are. Expect sightings of elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, gazelles, impalas, dik-diks, and more than 300 species of birds.

Start your day with an early morning game drive, the best time to experience the sanctuary’s wildlife at its most active. The cool air, golden sunrise, and stirring herds make for a magical safari moment.
After returning for a hearty breakfast at your lodge, you’ll enjoy a mid-morning game drive, giving you one last opportunity to take in the sanctuary’s beauty and biodiversity before departing.
In the early afternoon, we’ll begin the return journey to your Diani Beach resort, arriving by early evening.
