We’ll pick you up from your hotel or resort and transfer you to Mombasa Airport (or Malindi Airport for northern coast guests) for your morning flight to the Mara, arriving in time for lunch.

On this short flight, enjoy spectacular views of the Great Rift Valley and the snow-capped peak of Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain. Upon arrival, a friendly host from your lodge or tented camp will welcome you and escort you to begin your safari through Kenya’s premier game reserve.

Your two-day journey includes multiple game drives across the rolling savannah, where you’ll seek out the iconic Big Five — lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino, and elephant. Witness the breathtaking sight of thousands of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle migrating across the plains in search of fresh grass. The Mara is also home to smaller wildlife and more than 400 bird species that inhabit its diverse habitats of grassland and acacia trees.

The Mara River, winding through the reserve, is a hotspot for hippos and crocodiles — predators ready to pursue the great herds streaming into the park.

This unforgettable adventure is just a short flight away from your beach holiday, offering three full game drives plus additional drives to and from the airstrip. You’ll return to Malindi or Mombasa with incredible stories, stunning photos, and memories to last a lifetime.

Day 01 :

Daily Itinerary

DEPART FROM MOMBASA – MASAI MARA

Meal Plan: Lunch, Dinner

Your safari adventure begins with an early morning pickup from your beach resort, followed by a transfer to Malindi Airport for your chartered flight.

Between 7:30 and 8:30 am, you’ll take off on a scenic approximately two-hour flight to the Masai Mara. From your window seat, enjoy breathtaking views of the sprawling Kenyan landscape and the majestic snow-capped peak of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

You will arrive around 10:30 am, where your Natural World Kenya Safaris guide will meet you. Board your private, open-top 4x4 safari Jeep and begin your unforgettable game drive into the heart of the Masai Mara Reserve.

Masai Mara Arrival & First Game Drive

After landing, settle into your open-top 4×4 Jeep for a short introductory game drive through the Masai Mara as you make your way to your accommodation. Take some time to freshen up before enjoying your first safari meal.

During lunch, your guide will share fascinating insights about the reserve, highlighting its unique ecosystems and the various areas you can explore during your stay.

In the afternoon, set out again in your Jeep to experience the Mara’s rich wildlife. As you traverse the golden savannas dotted with iconic acacia trees, you’ll encounter an incredible array of animals — lions, leopards, cheetahs, towering giraffes, elephants, and more.

This region is famed for the Great Migration, when thousands of wildebeests and zebras cross the Mara River from July through October. If your visit coincides with this period, prepare to be amazed by the sheer volume of wildlife moving through the park.

Throughout your two-day Mara adventure, you can customize your game drives based on your interests and pace. Your guide will offer expert suggestions on where to spot certain species, but the itinerary is entirely up to you.

Note: Guests staying in conservancies wishing to visit the Mara Triangle to witness the Great Migration river crossings should expect an additional surcharge of $80 per person.

You’ll enjoy a delicious dinner and spend a restful night at your chosen safari lodge or tented camp, surrounded by the sounds of the wild and the peaceful African night.

Day 02 :

On your final day in the Masai Mara, you’ll rise early to take advantage of the serene, golden light of the morning—a magical time when the park is at its most peaceful and wildlife is often at its most active. With your experienced guide, you may choose to explore new areas of the reserve or revisit favorite spots to catch any animals you might have missed.

After a rewarding morning game drive, you’ll return to your lodge or tented camp for a hearty breakfast. Over breakfast, you can discuss your plans for the day with your guide, ensuring your last safari drive is tailored to your interests—whether that means tracking elusive big cats or enjoying the diverse birdlife.

Following breakfast, you’ll embark on one final game drive, soaking in the vast landscapes and the rich wildlife that makes the Masai Mara so special. As the day progresses, you’ll return to the airstrip, bidding farewell to your guide and the park’s stunning scenery.

From here, you’ll board your flight back to Malindi or Watamu, carrying with you vivid memories and photographs of your incredible adventure through one of Africa’s most iconic wildlife destinations.

As your safari adventure draws to a close, we’ll make our way to the airstrip, enjoying some final moments of wildlife viewing along the way. This is your last chance to soak in the sights and sounds of the Masai Mara before departure.

Your flight will depart promptly at 14:00 hrs (2:00 pm) for a scenic journey back to the stunning Kenyan coast. As you fly, take in the breathtaking landscapes one last time from above.

You’ll arrive back at the coast around 16:30 hrs (4:30 pm), where our Natural World Kenya Safaris team will be waiting to warmly welcome you and transfer you back to your hotel or resort.
