Nairobi – Samburu (90-Minute Flight)

At 7:30 am, your Natural World Kenya Safaris driver will pick you up from your hotel, residence, or a location of your choice and transfer you to nearby Wilson Airport. Your flight departs at 8:30 am and lasts just under 90 minutes.

During the flight, enjoy stunning views of Kenya’s vibrant landscapes, including fields, forests, and, weather permitting, the majestic snow-capped peak of Mt. Kenya.

Upon landing at the airstrip near Samburu National Reserve, your driver/guide will greet you and escort you to your private, open-sided 4x4 Land Cruiser Jeep the rugged and comfortable vehicle that will be your safari base throughout the adventure.

Get settled into your lodge or tented camp, then we’ll head out to explore the vast, largely untouched Samburu National Reserve.

This rugged, arid landscape is home to abundant wildlife, with a special focus on tracking elephants as they roam. The life-giving Ewaso Nyiro River winds through the park, its lush banks providing a vital oasis that draws a rich variety of animals making it an ideal spot for wildlife viewing.

As evening approaches, we’ll return to your accommodation to relax and unwind after a full day of safari adventures, followed by a delicious dinner to end the day.

Full Day at Samburu

You have the freedom to spend the day as you wish—go on as many game drives as you like or take time to relax at your accommodation. Your driver/guide will tailor the experience to your preferences.

During your game drives, you’ll seek out elephants, lions, buffalo, zebra, antelope, and many other species. Thanks to Samburu’s remote location, you’ll encounter far fewer tourists, giving you a more private and intimate safari experience.

If interested, you can also explore nearby Shaba and Buffalo Springs reserves, where lush greenery offers a different setting for wildlife viewing.

Samburu is especially notable for its unique and endangered species, including the Somali ostrich, Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, and Beisa oryx.

Toward evening, we may be treated to a stunning African sunset as we make our way back to the safari lodge or tented camp, perfect for relaxing and reflecting on the day’s adventures.

We’ll rise early to enjoy the calm of Samburu before breakfast and one last game drive as we prepare to depart for Ol Pejeta Conservancy.

The three-hour drive takes us through the cooler highlands of Mt. Kenya and Laikipia, arriving at Ol Pejeta, a uniquely diverse sanctuary known for its big game as well as its rhino and chimpanzee conservation efforts.

At the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, we’ll see rescued chimps thriving in a natural environment — the only place in Kenya to witness these intelligent and playful animals up close.

We’ll also visit the expansive black rhino enclosure, home to the largest protected population of these endangered creatures, offering a rare and vital conservation experience.

On our third evening of safari, we’ll return to our Ol Pejeta lodge or tented camp to relax, enjoy a delicious dinner, and reflect on the day’s unforgettable wildlife encounters.

Full Day at Ol Pejeta

Your day is entirely yours—whether you want to embark on multiple game drives or simply unwind at your lodge or tented camp. Ol Pejeta boasts a rich diversity of wildlife, including the big cats and other iconic species, as well as impala, giraffe, baboon, jackal, foxes, and hyenas. With some luck, we might even catch a glimpse of the rare and endangered African wild dogs.

As a private conservancy, Ol Pejeta offers unique experiences not found in national parks, such as night game drives and bicycle safaris. Be sure to chat with your guide about these special opportunities to enhance your adventure.

We’ll spend the evening relaxing and enjoying dinner at our Ol Pejeta accommodation.

Ol Pejeta – Maasai Mara (1 Hour Flight)

By now you’re well into the safari rhythm—rising early to witness the park awaken and its wildlife stir in the soft morning light. After a leisurely breakfast and a final game drive through Ol Pejeta, we’ll head to the nearby airstrip for your 10:30 am flight to the Masai Mara.

Touching down near this iconic reserve, you’ll be greeted by your new Natural World Kenya Safaris guide and transfer into an open-sided 4 x 4 Land Cruiser. The Maasai Mara unfolds before you with its vast savannahs, rolling hills dotted with iconic acacia trees, and an incredible diversity of over 95 mammal species.

Famed for its prides of lions, stealthy cheetahs, and elusive leopards, the Mara captivates all who explore its colorful, expansive landscapes. Over the next three days, enjoy unlimited game drives in search of elephants, rhinos, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and a dazzling array of birds that fill the skies and treetops.

On this fifth evening of your safari, we’ll return to your comfortable Masai Mara accommodation where you can relax, enjoy a delicious dinner, and reflect on the day’s incredible wildlife experiences.

Full Day at Masai Mara

Start early to fully embrace the vastness of this remarkable park and the extraordinary wildlife it hosts. Chat with your driver/guide about the best areas to explore and what unique sights you might encounter throughout the day.

If you’re visiting between July and October, be sure to spend time near the Mara River, the spectacular stage for the Great Migration. Here, tens of thousands of wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles arrive from the Serengeti, embarking on their annual quest for food and water.

Lurking nearby are the predators: crocodiles lurking in the river and numerous big cats across the reserve, each playing their role in this ancient cycle of life and survival. Witnessing this raw, natural drama firsthand is unforgettable.

For a truly breathtaking perspective, consider an optional early morning hot air balloon safari. Drift silently over the plains, marveling at the vast herds stretching to the horizon as the sun rises.

Alternatively, enrich your experience with a visit to a nearby Maasai village. Meet the Maasai people, learn about their pastoral traditions, immerse yourself in their vibrant culture, and perhaps enjoy their lively dance ceremonies adding a memorable cultural touch to your safari adventure.

As the day draws to a close, soak in the breathtaking hues of a Mara sunset before we return to your accommodation to unwind and reflect on your final evening of this unforgettable safari.

Maasai Mara – Nairobi (1 Hour Flight)

On this final morning of your safari, we’ll set out for one last game drive through the park. By now, you’re seasoned safari-goers with a keen eye for where to find the wildlife.

Following breakfast, we’ll make our way to the airstrip for your 11:15 am flight back to Wilson Airport. Say farewell to your guide and prepare to enjoy a scenic flight, taking in stunning aerial views of the Masai Mara one last time.

You’ll arrive in Nairobi around 12:15 pm, where a Natural World Kenya Safaris driver will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel, residence, or the international airport.
