Your safari adventure begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel, residence, or Nairobi airport—wherever is most convenient for you.

7:00 AM – A Natural World Kenya Safaris representative will meet you and transfer you to Wilson Airport for your scenic flight to the Maasai Mara, which takes approximately one hour.

As you soar above the breathtaking Kenyan landscape, take in sweeping views of Mount Kilimanjaro (on clear days), the dramatic escarpments of the Great Rift Valley, and the vast savannah stretching toward the Mara. It’s a spectacular introduction to the adventure that awaits.

Welcome to the Maasai Mara

By mid-morning, your flight will descend into the heart of the Maasai Mara, touching down at the airstrip surrounded by golden savannahs and iconic flat-topped acacia trees.

Awaiting your arrival is your Natural World Kenya Safaris guide, ready to greet you in a custom 4x4 open-top safari Jeep. You’ll immediately begin your first mini game drive en route to your lodge or camp—your first taste of the wild. Upon arrival, settle in and enjoy a leisurely lunch as you prepare for the adventures ahead.

You and your guide can plan your first full game drive experience based on your interests. The Maasai Mara is East Africa’s most diverse ecosystem, home to over 95 species of mammals. Expect close encounters with big cats—lion, leopard, and cheetah—as well as iconic grazers like elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, and rhinos.

If you're visiting between July and October, you may witness one of nature’s greatest spectacles: the Great Migration. During this period, massive herds of wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles cross the Mara River in a breathtaking and dramatic push from Tanzania’s Serengeti in search of greener pastures.

Over the course of your two-day Maasai Mara experience, you’ll enjoy the freedom to design your safari your way. Whether you prefer early morning game drives, relaxed afternoons, or full-day explorations, your schedule is completely up to you.

Note: For guests staying in conservancies who wish to access the Mara Triangle for a closer view of the Great Migration river crossings, an additional fee of $80 per person applies.

After an exhilarating day exploring the wonders of the Maasai Mara, unwind at your safari lodge or tented camp. Enjoy a freshly prepared dinner and take time to relax, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the African wilderness.

Maasai Mara – Nairobi

Meal Plan: Breakfast

Rise early to embrace the magic of the Mara at dawn. The soft morning light sets a tranquil scene as the wildlife stirs to life—an ideal time for one last game drive filled with fresh sightings and quiet moments in nature.

Afterwards, return to your camp or lodge for a hearty breakfast, surrounded by the sounds and scenery of the African bush.

Then it’s time to hop back into your safari Jeep for a final, scenic game drive en route to the airstrip. Your flight back to Nairobi offers one last chance to take in the sweeping views of Kenya’s iconic landscapes from above.

Return to Nairobi

Late in the morning, you’ll take off from the Maasai Mara airstrip for your return flight—enjoy more sweeping views of Kenya’s stunning landscapes, and possibly glimpses of neighboring Tanzania, from the skies above.

You’ll arrive at Wilson Airport around 12:45 PM, where a Natural World Kenya Safaris representative will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel, residence, or preferred drop-off location.
