Amboseli National Park: Land of Giants & Kilimanjaro Views: Your holiday begins at Amboseli National Park. This habitat is known as the best spot in Africa to view large herds of elephants, often with the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro towering in the distance as your spectacular backdrop. But you’ll also find wildebeest, zebra, lion, cheetah, and more.
Aberdare National Park: Mountain Forests & Tree Hotels: Next up and just as special is Aberdare National Park, set in a lush rainforest with high waterfalls. Your stay here is in a unique tree hotel! From your balcony, you’ll be able to view elephant, rhino, buffalo, and hyena among the game found in this unique park, as they visit the floodlit watering hole.
Ol Pejeta Conservancy: Rhino Conservation & Chimpanzee Sanctuary: On your way to Ol Pejeta Conservancy, there will be stops at coffee/tea plantations and local markets to experience the local culture and witness the agricultural heartland. The Conservancy is renowned for its thriving herds of black rhino (East Africa’s largest population) and its dedicated chimpanzee sanctuary. But also keep an eye out for zebra, cheetah, lion, and even wild dogs.
Lake Naivasha & Surrounding Parks: Active Safaris: Your holiday safari continues, passing scenic Thompson’s Falls and on to Lake Naivasha. Here you’ll take an easy boat ride past hippos, diverse birdlife, and small game on the shore. Nearby Crescent Island Game Sanctuary is home to giraffe, zebra, impala, innumerable birds, and offers a fun walking tour amongst the animals, allowing for close encounters. Then we’ll take a most unique bicycle safari around Hell’s Gate National Park, safely pedaling right by grazing giraffe, zebra, and antelope amidst its dramatic gorge landscapes. Lots of wonderful photo opportunities!
Masai Mara National Reserve: The Ultimate Safari Destination: In direct contrast to the smaller game you’ve just enjoyed, get ready for the big one – or the Big Five as we sometimes say. Your final and perhaps biggest adventure is at the Masai Mara. This vast savannah hosts the widest diversity of wildlife on the tour and indeed in the region. You’ll spend more than two days here soaking up the sights and sounds of this world-famous park, enjoying unlimited game drives.
If you wish, for an optional fee, visit a Maasai village for a cultural immersion or take a spectacular hot air balloon ride over the great reserve, viewing the vast herds below from a unique perspective. Then it’s back to Nairobi.
