Amboseli National Park: Elephants & Kilimanjaro’s Grandeur: You’ll first notice it peeking out on the horizon. As you steadily approach, Mount Kilimanjaro slowly rises to its world-famous elevation, a majestic guide to Amboseli National Park, which lies at its foot. This park is small but incredibly popular, a testament to its scenic beauty and impressive wildlife, especially its many elephants, which you are all but guaranteed to spot striding by in their delightful herds.

Lake Naivasha Area: Multi-faceted Adventures: Lake Naivasha isn’t just one park but several amazing destinations. There is the freshwater Rift Valley lake itself, where we’ll take a unique boat safari, spotting hippos and a plethora of birds. To get up close to peacefully grazing wildlife, we’ll embark on a guided walking safari to the charming and wonder-filled Crescent Island Game Sanctuary. And for an extra adventure, we can even take an optional bike ride to nearby Hell’s Gate National Park for still more views of giraffe, buffalo, antelope, and zebra amidst dramatic landscapes.

Day 01 :

Daily Itinerary

Nairobi – Amboseli National Park (240 km – Approx. 4 Hrs)

Meal Plan: Lunch, Dinner

7:00 hrs: Your driver/guide will pick you up from your Nairobi area hotel, Nairobi airport, or Nairobi area residence. We’ll then head out in our private 4x4 safari jeep for Amboseli National Park on the Nairobi/Mombasa Highway. Our drive will take us through scenic Masai country and toward the guiding iconic form of Africa’s highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro.

We anticipate arriving at Amboseli in the late morning, with plenty of time to freshen up and enjoy a delightful lunch at your accommodation.

After lunch, we’re off in our private 4x4 to track a variety of wildlife including wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, gazelle, and lion. You won’t need to actively track elephants, as the park always offers ample herds for our viewing enjoyment, often in spectacular numbers.

With Kilimanjaro standing watch over the reserve like a giant picture postcard, you’ll love taking photos in this busy and incredibly scenic park.

We’ll spend the evening in Amboseli, at your choice of safari lodge or tented camp.

Day 02 :

Amboseli – Lake Naivasha (340 km: Approx. 6 hrs)

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

We’re going to enjoy several more game drives at Amboseli, starting with an early morning jaunt in our 4x4 to see the sunlight breaking over the park and perhaps some elephants on their way to breakfast.

We’ll also have our breakfast at our accommodation and then set out for an extra drive through the park, catching last glimpses of the abundant wildlife and the mighty Mount Kilimanjaro.

Now, we’re on our way, traveling over the scenic floor of the Great Rift Valley. As we journey to Lake Naivasha, we’ll make a stop in Nairobi at a noted restaurant to enjoy lunch.

We’ll then proceed on our journey, reaching Lake Naivasha in the late afternoon. Here, we may take a fun boat safari across the pretty lake, sailing by hippos, various fish, and observing a rich array of birdlife including cormorants and pelicans. We might even spot zebra and antelope grazing along the shore.

We’ll spend the night at the Lake Naivasha safari lodge or tented camp of your choice.

Day 03 :

Lake Naivasha – Masai Mara National Reserve (240Km – Approx. 5 hours)

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Let’s rise with the sun for an early morning game drive or a refreshing boating safari over the lake, enjoying the tranquil beauty and active birdlife.

There’s so much to do in the Lake Naivasha area! We’ll take a guided walking safari to the nearby Crescent Island Game Sanctuary. Acre for acre, this sanctuary boasts more animals than many other Kenyan parks, and we’ll enjoy strolling peacefully by grazing giraffe, zebra, antelope, and more.

We also offer an optional bicycle ride over to Hell’s Gate National Park for more close-up wildlife viewing and hiking opportunities within its dramatic landscapes. Just ask your driver/guide to set this up for you.

But now, it’s time to set out for the most famous wildlife park in the world – Masai Mara National Reserve!

We’ll arrive in time for an exciting afternoon game drive and get our first taste of the immense sweep, breathtaking beauty, and active wildlife inhabiting this renowned park. All of Africa’s Big Five are here, and sightings of lion and cheetah are common.

We’ll spend the first of two nights at the Masai Mara, at your safari lodge or tented camp of your choice.

Day 04 :

Full Day – Masai Mara National Reserve: Unforgettable Wildlife & Culture

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

The Masai Mara is renowned for having the highest density of wildlife in the region. So, we’ll be up early to track that wildlife over hills and savannahs, looking for the magnificent big predators but also some of the other 90 species of mammals filling this exciting ecosystem.

The reserve is also home to the spectacular Great Migration (typically July – October), when hordes of gazelle, wildebeest, and zebra by the tens of thousands cross over the Mara River into the park on their yearly quest for taller, fresher grasses on which to feed.

We’ll take a picnic lunch at the Mara River, within sight of hippos and crocodiles, and if during the migration season, splendid views of the invading herds crossing into the park – a sight unmatched anywhere else in the world.

Optional Activities to Enhance Your Stay at the Mara:

Enjoy a visit with the local Maasai people in their nearby village. See their traditional homes, learn about their vibrant culture, and perhaps purchase some of their colorful, intricate jewelry, supporting the local community.
We also offer a pre-dawn hot air balloon safari over the park. This is a not-to-be-missed moment on your tour – imagine viewing the Mara come alive with the new day as the wildlife emerges onto the savannah, all from a breathtaking aerial perspective. Your driver/guide can make all the arrangements for this unforgettable experience.

Our final night at the Masai Mara will be at the safari lodge or tented camp of your choice.

Day 05 :

Masai Mara – Nairobi: Safari Finale & Departure (265km – Approx. 5 hrs)

Meal Plan: Breakfast

After a leisurely breakfast at your lodge/camp, your dedicated driver-guide will assist you with the checkout process, and we will proceed to Nairobi – Kenya’s vibrant capital city.

On the way, your guide will point out the impressive Longonot extinct volcano, a stratovolcano located southeast of Lake Naivasha in the Great Rift Valley of Kenya. It is thought to have last erupted in the 1860s, and its name is derived from the Maasai word Oloonong’ot, meaning “mountains of many spurs” or “steep ridges.”

You have flexible options for the return journey:

You can opt to drive via Naivasha for lunch/excursions (at an extra cost).
Alternatively, drive straight to Nairobi and pass by Kiambethu Farm for a tea farm tour, which includes a delicious three-course buffet lunch (at an extra cost).
OR, drive straight back to the capital and later transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) for your flight back home.

We will comfortably bring you to your Nairobi hotel, Nairobi residence, or the airport.
